Located at 115 George St., Dalhousie, N.B., the museum conatains premanent displays dealing with the history and culture of Restigouche county along with a large gallery for temproary exhibitions. It's open year round and admission is free. Currently, the museum is displaying an exhibition called AFSTART which it prepared in cooperation with the Kenya Book Foundation, Nairobi, Kenya. This is a first, perhaps anywhere, as it combines an introduction to African culture as seen through children's eyes with a small foreign aid program. After a two year tour, the pictures will be auctioned with profits going to participaitng schools. The museum is also home base for the Chaleur Camera Club.

The museum holds thousands of documents relating to local history. If your ancestors came from Restigouche or if you'd like to know something about early businesses in the area, this is the place to start. We also have about 1,200 photographs of the region and thousands of artifacts, only a small portion of which are displayed.
